derived out of my own wedding in Scotland. Our registrar asked me, whether she might direct other couples planning to get married in Scotland to me because of my experience and knowledge acquired. I did successfully manage my way through the administrative jungle and know quite well, which documents, confirmations, certifications and translations are required and which deadlines are to be met.
Couples-to-be often wish for a marriage abroad and already have a general idea of the setting of their wedding. Most of the time they then feel overwhelmed by the bureaucracy and the administrative organisation of their undertaking in a foreign language. They also find it very hard to find any reliable source of advice and help as soon as questions arise. The idea of supporting other couples with my experience and to help them in realising their most beautiful day in life since then never let me go.
Having studied business administration at the University of Cologne, I felt well equipped with the necessary skills to run my own business. Nevertheless, with my degree in the pocket, I first started working as an employee in the areas of Human Resources, Customer Service and Sales.
It is a well known fact, that you exceed typically in those fields you are passionate about. Developing a tailored service - focussing on German couples dreaming of a wedding in Scotland - allowed me to combine my passion for weddings with my favour for Scotland. Designing the most important festivity of their life together with happy people is a wonderful task.
as always! Just like most of the girls weddings and everything connected to it thrills me as well. The enthusiasm from my childhood days retained itself: starting with the first wedding magazine bought at the age of 14, I step-by-step extended my in the meantime stately archive of international wedding magazines with its trends from around the world. I am a romantic by heart and consider it to be a wonderful occasion when two persons decide to stay together and want to celebrate this lifelong commitment according to the centuries-old traditions of the wedding vows.
Friends and colleagues frequently asked me for ideas and support in the organisation of their weddings and celebrations, making use of my verve and knowledge. And so I was able to gather valuable on-hand experience in this area.
as soon as you step out of the plane. Over the time I have visited almost every corner of the country and build up a substantial knowledge of the area. The Scots always presented themselves as very helpful and inviting hosts and so I was able to forge some thorough bonds with some of my friends. I collected valuable insider recommendations you will not find in any catalogue or travel guidebook. Friends back at home asked me to put together travel routes through Scotland for them. In the meantime some Scottish friends ask me for such suggestions and are surprised by my stories about places in Scotland they not even heard of before.
Out of this research across Scotland, I was able to identify and view numerous unique and fascinating locations to get married. The idea to start my own business was perceived very positively by various people in charge of suppliers and venues out of the wedding industry. So I finally decided to make a profession out of my passion and to dare the step into self-employment.
points towards an old Scottish tradition. In the sixteenth century a loving groom would give his bride a silver brooch as a wedding gift. Since those times, the “Luckenbooth“ brooch consisting of a crown and a heart, acts as a symbol of love and friendship and saves the bride on the wedding day from evil spirits. Because of this function the brooch often is attached to the couple‘s cot to protect the child. Even Mary Queen of Scots gave the Luckenbooth brooch away as a gift to thank for love and loyalty.
Until today, a lot of Scots are wearing the brooch as a lucky charm and symbol of their tradition and pass them on from generation to generation.
